Parcels

A parcel is a postal item that does not fit through the letterbox. A letterbox package does fit through the mailbox. Parcels are sent both by Canon through the Mailroom and by the UG through the University HUB. View the postal itinerary in the attachment at the bottom of this page.

The Mailroom sends parcels

• That are lighter than 23,000 grams
• Whose maximum size is 176 x 78 x 58 cm
  

University HUB sends parcels:

• Weighing more than 23,000 grams
• That have a larger format than 176 x 78 x 58 cm
• Containing biological and chemical material
  
  

Letterbox package within the Netherlands

A letterbox package has a maximum size of 38 cm L x 26.5 cm W x 3.2 cm H and a maximum weight of 2 kg. It can be sent as a letter box mail. There is no need to fill in a form.

Sending parcels

1. To send all parcels and for registered items for abroad, you must fill in one of the forms below so that the carrier has the correct information. Without this mandatory information, a parcel will not be sent.

There are two forms:

• Form for regular parcels
• Form for sending parcels with chemicals

2. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with the completed details.

 

3. Print the e-mail and stick it on the parcel to be sent. A separate form must be completed for each parcel.

 

4. Deliver your parcel to your Facility Service Point (the reception). Packages are collected daily between 9-11am by the University HUB. Make sure your parcel is ready for pick up at the Facility Service Point (reception) before 9am.

For large shipments of identical parcels, contact the Mailroom. In case of an international shipment, the Mailroom will arrange the necessary customs formalities.

 

For Campus Fryslân and FSE location Antonius Deusinglaan, sending parcels is arranged differently.

Parcel or courier shipment

When presenting a parcel for dispatch, you indicate on the parcel dispatch form which service you want to use.

 

There are four options:

 

1. Standard shipment

Use this if the shipment is not absolutely urgent. The average delivery time for the Netherlands is about 1-2 business days, for within Europe and the EU about 3-4 business days and for parcels outside Europe it is about 10 to 25 business days, depending on the destination and possible customs control.

 

2. Registered shipment

Use this type of shipment if high delivery security is required and you want to track and trace your order at all times. Registered in NL € 50, insured. The average delivery time for the Netherlands is approximately 1-2 business days, for Europe and the EU approximately 3-4 business days and for parcels outside Europe it is, depending on the destination and possible customs control, approximately 10-25 business days.

Please note that shipping requires a sticker AND one of the above forms!

• Registered parcels may only be presented with one of the stickers listed below. The stickers are available at your Facility Service Point or at the mailroom. The booklets for registered mail from PostNL will no longer be valid as of January 1, 2023.

3. Insured shipment

Use this type of shipping if the shipment is of value and you want to follow it at all times with track & trace.  In NL, registered mail is insured for € 50 as standard. More insurance value is possible by indicating this on the form. The average delivery time for the Netherlands is approximately 1-2 business days, for within Europe and EU approximately 3-4 business days and for parcels outside Europe it is, depending on the destination and possible customs control, approximately 10-25 business days.

 

4. Express service

Use this option if you want fast shipping. For the Netherlands this is possible within 1 business day. For Europe and the EU this is 2-3 working days and for outside Europe, depending on the destination and possible customs control, approximately 7 to 18 working days.

 

 

Receiving parcels

All parcels/goods for the attention of the UG are delivered to the Logistics RUG at Nijenborgh 4 in Groningen. Via the University HUB,  the parcel reaches the addressee.
